Kathran Siegel

My childhood calling was to end up somewhere within the Biological Sciences.

Bennington being my choice for College, I was unaware that I would be walking into the center of a Purist whirlwind that was dominating the Arts in the 1960s.

Starting with a visual idea, even something arbitrary, asking questions of it, coming up with possible solutions and producing each of these dimensionally, had me spellbound and still does.

Since those days, my work has taken many forms. I found that wood served me better than canvas. Moving from Painting through Woodworking to Sculpture, my present work falls into a hybrid form I think of as Carved Painting.

A history and a vocabulary build. Ideas generate ideas after 40+ years of a professional life in the Visual Arts.
